Welcome to Zhejiang Jiangshan High School
　　Founded in July, 1938, Zhejiang Jiangshan High School (ZJHS) became one of the provincial key high schools in 1981 and in July, 1997, it was classified as a first-grade provincial key high school. ZJHS has an easy access to transport facilities. From ZJHS to Shanghai or Hangzhou, it takes about 3 to 4 hours by express bus .
　　At present, ZJHS, together with Jiangshan Foreign Language School, which is affiliated to ZJHS, has 36 senior classes and 9 junior classes with the student population of 2400 and a teaching and administrative staff of 180, of which 132 are teachers, including 3 special-grade teachers, 50 senior teachers and 49 grade-1 teachers. ZJHS is equipped with modern facilities, like the school network system, the two-way closed-circuit television system, a video- and image- generating room (VIG room), the multi-media rooms and so on. The management of education, teaching, financial affairs, the library and the dining hall is completely computerized.
　　"Science is advocated with humanism stressed" is the school spirit and "Be united, keep forging ahead, and work diligently and in a down-to-earth manner" is its school motto. Since the founding of ZJHS in 1938, more than 20,000 students have graduated from the school, many of whom played and are playing leading roles in all walks of life and some of whom became famous scientists both in the country and in the world.
With China's entry to WTO, the demand of various qualified personnel is ever increasing. To meet the demand, ZJHS has strengthened its teaching and administration and will emphasize the exchange with foreign countries. With the ratification by the Administrative Bureau of Zhejiang Province government, the school has employed 8 foreign teachers. By this October the whole school will have been relocated in the outskirts of Jiangshan City. The new campus occupies an area of 350 acres and right now, the construction of the new school campus is underway. The school will be expanded from the present 41 classes to 60. Then and there original English textbooks will be introduced and more foreign English teachers will be employed to teach and also help to manage class work. As a result, we are going to engage three or four more foreign English teachers who are native English speakers or equivalent English level and the work of employing foreign teachers has to be done regularly. Couples are welcome.
